CAP and Reverse Trauma

Cold Assisted Psychotherapy (CAP) is trauma in reverse. Trauma is when an event or time period of your life was so overwhelming that the experience gets lodged in your nervous system. While the event has passed, its imprint is very much still alive inside of you. Its residue sullies the lens through which you see and experience your life.
CAP works on the same principle, just in reverse. While you are in the cold plunge, all the thoughts, emotions, beliefs and noise that fills your head and gets you into trouble instantly disappear.
That leaves you in the presence of the truth (And freezing cold water). CAP then takes you on a guided experience to the core of that truth. You experience yourself, your worth, your clarity, your own self love and connection. Not as a fluffy, tired platitude, but as an undeniable, visceral reality.
That experience of yourself is so real, so rich, so powerful and so obviously true that it gets lodged in your nervous system. Even if you tried, you can never go back to believing the old tired stories you used to believe about yourself. Those stories are a bunch of garbage and its now obvious to you. The new you now colors the lens through which you experience yourself, your relationships and life. And this lense helps you see better!
