   Amino Acid Therapy
A clinical, evidence-based treatment for mental health, sleep, and weight loss.

Amino Acid Therapy restores the brain's neurotransmitter balance using targeted amino acids, the same building blocks the brain naturally uses to produce its key neurotransmitters: serotonin, dopamine, GABA, and endorphins. When these neurotransmitters are depleted, the effects show up across mental and physical health. Replenishing them addresses the underlying neurochemistry driving symptoms. I am trained in Amino Acid Therapy through the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health.

What It Treats

Mental Health

Anxiety, panic attacks, depression, stress and overwhelm, irritability, grief, trauma, rumination, low self-esteem, ADHD, addiction, and marital or relationship strain. These concerns are either rooted in neurotransmitter imbalance or significantly driven by it. Even when the problem originates externally, the stress of the experience depletes neurotransmitters, and that depletion is what drives many of the ongoing symptoms. Restoring neurotransmitter balance addresses the neurochemistry behind these symptoms and resolves them at their source.

Sleep

Difficulty falling asleep and waking through the night are commonly tied to deficiencies in specific neurotransmitters. Targeted amino acid support restores healthy sleep patterns right away.

Weight Loss

Overeating and cravings for sugar, carbohydrates, and dairy are driven by depleted neurotransmitter levels, not a lack of discipline. By restoring neurotransmitter balance, cravings are eliminated, overeating stops, and weight loss becomes easy.

How It Works

Neurotransmitters are produced from amino acids found in protein. Dietary protein is enough to maintain normal function, but not enough to restore depleted neurochemistry caused by stress, genetics, trauma, or other factors. Amino Acid Therapy uses specific amino acids in supplement form to rebuild those reserves. Different amino acids support different neurotransmitters, and identifying precisely what your body needs is central to the treatment. Because amino acids are the same nutrients the brain naturally uses to build neurotransmitters, the treatment supports the body's own chemistry rather than introducing anything foreign to it.

This is fundamentally different from how medications work. SSRIs and similar medications do not increase the brain's production of neurotransmitters; they alter how the existing supply is utilized. Amino Acid Therapy increases the supply itself, which replenishes the brain's ability to produce neurotransmitters on its own. Relief is typically noticeable within minutes of the first dose, and because the treatment works at the root, many clients are able to discontinue treatment over time while maintaining the benefits. Amino acids are not addictive and do not produce withdrawal symptoms.

The Process

Most clients complete Amino Acid Therapy in 2-4 sessions total. The initial session is one hour and includes a comprehensive clinical assessment and an individualized amino acid protocol tailored to your specific symptoms and goals. Follow up sessions are 20 minutes and are for adjusting dosages and fine tuning the protocol. The initial session is $255, follow ups are $120. Amino Acid Therapy is available in person or online via zoom.

Contraindications

Amino Acid Therapy is contraindicated for individuals with a history of mania, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or psychosis, suicidality, Hashimoto's, or uncontrolled high blood pressure. If you are on an SSRI medication, please email before booking.
